Frequently Asked Questions
How do I start treatment at BHG Medical Services – Montgomery?
You can begin by calling our treatment center directly, calling 844-535-7291 or walking in during business hours. In many cases, same-day or next-day appointments are available.
What is the first day of treatment like?
Your first day may take 2-3 hours and includes:
- Intake assessment: We’ll review your health history, substance use and recovery goals to understand your needs.
- Medical evaluation: A BHG provider will conduct a physical exam, review your medical history and discuss treatment options. If appropriate, medication treatment can begin the same day.
- Personalized treatment plan: Before you leave, our team will walk you through your treatment plan, including counseling and next steps for ongoing care.
Do I need to come in every day for medication?
No. Office-based treatment does not involve daily dosing like a methadone program. Patients will meet with a provider on a scheduled basis for medication management, counseling and check-ins.
Does BHG Medical Services – Montgomery accept Medicaid or other insurance?
Yes. We accept Medicaid, Medicare and most commercial insurance plans. For those without coverage, self-pay options are also available. Our staff can review your benefits, check your coverage and walk you through the choices before you begin care.
Can I transfer my treatment to BHG Medical Services – Montgomery?
Yes. If you are currently in treatment at another program, our staff can help coordinate a smooth transition of care to our center. Call 334-245-7680 to get started.
What happens if I relapse?
Relapse does not mean failure. At BHG Medical Services – Montgomery, if a relapse occurs, our team works with you to understand what happened and adjust your treatment plan. We provide additional counseling and medication management to help you get back on track and continue moving toward long-term recovery.
How is office-based opioid treatment different from an opioid treatment program (OTP)?
Office-based opioid treatment (OBOT) uses buprenorphine/Suboxone® and follows a more traditional doctor’s appointment model. Unlike an OTP, OBOT does not require daily visits for medication dosing. Instead, patients meet regularly with a provider, receive prescriptions and continue treatment through scheduled follow-ups and counseling.
