Outcomes

Proven Outcomes. Real Recovery.

At Behavioral Health Group, treatment is measured by what matters most – better health, greater stability and restored lives. Our evidence-based approach delivers meaningful, lasting recovery.

Recovery That Works — Backed by Outcomes

At Behavioral Health Group (BHG), our purpose is renewal — helping people break free from addiction through compassionate, evidence-based care that restores health, stability and dignity. Every day, we support more than 42,000 patients, strengthening families and helping communities rebuild.

As the largest Joint Commission-accredited outpatient network in the U.S., BHG combines medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), counseling, case management and wraparound support to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care.

Our care model is built on a simple idea: treatment should lead to real change. That means better health, stability, safety and quality of life. We measure progress at every step – and our results stand apart.

Patients Experience Meaningful Improvements

Across our network, patients report powerful, life-changing outcomes:

  • 99% of patients report improved quality of life
  • 92% of patients say their mental health has improved since entering treatment
  • 91% feel they are progressing toward their treatment goals
  • 83% report a decrease in substance use during treatment
  • Use scores drop by 53% within three months of care

These are not abstract numbers — they represent thousands of people regaining control of their future.

Hope, Respect and Caring

Long-Term Recovery Is Possible

Treatment works. One of the best predictors of lasting recovery is staying engaged in care, which is the foundation of our model. Nationally, 23.5 million adults — nearly three out of four who have ever had a substance use problem — say they have recovered or are in recovery.

Treatment Retention

Our evidence-based approach stabilizes 80% of patients on a protective target dose within 30 days and pairs medication with optimized behavioral counseling, resulting in 62% of patients retained in treatment at 90+ days¹—well above industry benchmarks of 42% for Medicaid patients.²

MAT Effectiveness

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is one of the most effective interventions for opioid use disorder, reducing illicit opioid use by up to 61%, cutting the risk of overdose death by approximately 50% and doubling the likelihood of achieving long-term recovery outcomes. By offering all three FDA-approved medications for OUD, our providers can individualize treatment—matching each patient to the medication that best fits their clinical needs, usage patterns and stage of recovery.

A Return to Stability — Work, Health and Community

Recovery is more than reduced substance use — it’s rebuilding life.

Employment & Social Stability

60% of previously unemployed patients are working or in school after one year and 79% report improved employment status.

Community Safety & Justice Outcomes

97% of patients with prior arrests have no new arrests in their first year and criminal justice involvement drops 70% after entering treatment.

Emergency System Impact

82% of patients who used the ER before treatment do not return within the next year.

Why Treatment at BHG Works

We provide all three FDA-approved medications — methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone — making BHG part of just 4.2% of programs nationwide with this capability.3 This allows us to match the medication to the patients’ situation –critical for patients using powerful opioids such as fentanyl that might respond better to methadone, for example.

In addition, ~80% of patients are stabilized on a protective target dose within 30 days, exceeding industry standards. BHG also optimizes frequency and type of behavioral counseling, using metrics to improve retention and recovery adherence.

Treatment Approach

Our integrated model includes:

  • Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD)
  • Individual and group counseling (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and more)
  • Case management
  • Peer support
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at select locations

Accessible & Agile

We remove barriers by offering:

  • Same-day and next-day appointments
  • Walk-in availability
  • Rapid dose stabilization
  • Help with applying for Medicaid, Medicare and grants
  • Intensive case management, addressing issues such as transportation, housing, jobs and other challenges
  • Care tailored to acuity, motivation and goals
