Insurance and Payment

Understanding Insurance and Costs

Compassionate care should never be out of reach. BHG accepts Medicaid, Medicare, most commercial plans, grant funding where available, and offers flexible self-pay plans, making evidence-based care accessible to those we serve.

How Does Insurance Work for Opioid Addiction Treatment?

Finding treatment can feel overwhelming and understanding how to pay for it can add stress. The good news: most health insurance plans—including Medicaid, Medicare and many commercial plans—cover evidence-based addiction treatment such as medications, counseling and recovery support.

Cost and Payment Expectations for OUD Treatment

The cost of treatment depends on your insurance plan, the services you need and the length of care, but you’ll always know what to expect up front.

  • With Insurance: Many patients pay little or no out-of-pocket costs once deductibles are met.
  • Without Insurance: BHG offers flexible self-pay plans and, in many states, grant funding to help cover treatment.
  • Before Treatment Begins: Our Patient Financial Counselors will review your benefits, outline any fees and set up a payment plan if needed.

Because BHG provides care through an outpatient model, treatment often costs less than inpatient programs — without compromising the quality or effectiveness of care.

What Insurance Often Covers for OUD Treatment

Many health insurance plans — including Medicaid, Medicare and commercial carriers — may help cover treatment for opioid use disorder. Coverage can vary, but often includes:

  • FDA-approved medications such as methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone
  • Counseling and behavioral therapies
  • Lab work, assessments and ongoing care

Your specific benefits and any co-pays or deductibles depend on your plan and location. BHG’s staff can review your coverage with you and explain exactly what services are included before treatment begins.

Insurance changes? We can help.

Your recovery matters, and changes in coverage should not stand in the way of getting treatment. We can help you understand how insurance changes—such new Medicaid rules and changes to commercial or ACA Marketplace plans—could affect your out-of-pocket expenses. Together, we can find the best option for your situation.

What insurance options are available for addiction treatment?

Open FAQ Close FAQ

BHG accepts Medicaid, Medicare, most commercial insurance plans, self-pay options and grant funding where available. Coverage varies by state and treatment center.

Patients are encouraged to confirm benefits with their local center, use the interactive insurance finder or call 844-535-7291. Our staff can explain coverage options and help you understand costs before starting treatment.

How does insurance typically cover treatment at BHG?

Open FAQ Close FAQ

Most insurance plans, including Medicaid, Medicare and many commercial carriers, cover outpatient addiction treatment as a bundled service rather than by individual line item. This means your plan may provide a set daily or weekly rate that includes medications, counseling and recovery support.

Our Patient Financial Counselors can explain how your specific plan works and what costs, if any, you can expect before starting care.

Will I have out-of-pocket costs for addiction treatment?

Open FAQ Close FAQ

Out-of-pocket costs depend on your specific insurance plan. You can start by using our online insurance lookup tool to see if your plan is accepted. From there, BHG’s staff can review your coverage in detail, explain any costs such as deductibles or co-pays and walk you through your options before treatment begins.

Does BHG accept Medicaid and Medicare?

Open FAQ Close FAQ

Yes. BHG accepts most state Medicaid plans and Medicare Part B, which typically covers treatment for opioid addiction at 100% after the Part B deductible. Many Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans also cover treatment.

Can I start treatment if I don’t have insurance?

Open FAQ Close FAQ

Absolutely. BHG offers flexible self-pay plans and, in many states, grant funding to help patients start recovery even without insurance.

How do I verify my insurance coverage?

Open FAQ Close FAQ

You can start by using our online insurance lookup tool to see if your plan may cover treatment. From there, BHG’s staff can verify your specific benefits, review any co-pays or deductibles and help schedule your first appointment—often the same or next day.
