Our Future

BHG’s strategic focus is on being the premier provider of opioid treatment programs in the United States. We will accomplish this by continuing growth in three areas: organic growth in existing facilities, acquisitions of other OTP providers, and opening de novo OTP facilities.

 

Mission

BHG's mission is to be the best-in-class network of opioid treatment facilities by producing superior patient outcomes. We accomplish this goal by providing each person who enters our programs with a medically based treatment experience in accordance with our governing bodies. Our treatment rehabilitates those aspects of the person which are suffering; builds upon the strengths of that person; protects that person’s rights to privacy, respect and dignity; and assists in the development of a better quality of life. In doing so, we improve the lives and communities of those we touch and serve, and we build a strong company that serves its patients and communities over the long term.

Our History

Behavioral Health Group (BHG) was founded in 2006 by Andrew Love and James Draudt. Over a period of two years prior to founding BHG, Mr. Love and Mr. Draudt engaged in diligence on a number of small Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs) in Louisiana and Texas. Early in 2006 BHG acquired 4 treatment centers in these states. By the end of 2006, BHG purchased two additional facilities in Texas and in Tennessee.

 

In 2007, BHG acquired DRD Management, Inc., a network of six OTP facilities in Tennessee, Missouri, and Louisiana as well as three facilities in Colorado. Later that year, the company entered Oklahoma City.

 

From 2007-2009, the company focused on creating a scalable organization by standardizing accounting systems, payroll systems, and benefit plans across the organization, while simultaneously investing in human capital by adding in-house accounting, human resources, and corporate development resources.

 

BHG’s investment in infrastructure continued into 2008 with the formal creation of a centralized Information technology department and the launch of its regional manager structure for enhanced oversight of its growing network of OTP facilities. Also in 2008, the company acquired additional facilities in Tennessee.

 

In 2009, BHG standardized reporting systems and fee schedules for medication assisted treatment, and consolidated its pharmaceutical and lab testing. BHG also entered Kansas with the purchase of another OTP facility, and launched its first de novo facility in Joplin, Missouri.

 

In 2010, the company implemented a robust practice management system designed to enforce clinical consistency including customized treatment modules for counseling and standardized operating procedures for medication assisted treatment. The same year, BHG was listed on the 2010 INC. 500 list of fastest growing companies.

 

In 2011, BHG was acquired by the Frontenac Company, a Chicago-based private investment firm founded in 1971. Michael N. Cannizzaro was appointed Chairman of BHG’s Board of Directors. BHG also purchased three additional OTP facilities in Tennessee.

 

In 2012, BHG continued its investment in infrastructure by implementing a scalable HR applicant tracking system and an enterprise learning management system. BHG also appointed additional executive leadership including a Chief Medical Officer and a Senior Vice President of Business Development. Andrew Love stepped down as CEO and Michael Cannizzaro was appointed Chairman and CEO. As of late 2012, the company has 23 treatment facilities located in seven states and continues to grow.

In addition to assisting those in need, our team members report that our alternative workday is a major reason for working at BHG Treatment Centers.

 

Below is a typical day at BHG treatment centers:

  • 5:00 AM - Treatment Centers open
  • 5:00-10:00 AM - Dispensing and Treatment Hours
  • 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Treatment Center Operations
  • Early afternoon - Treatment Centers close

Our Treatment Centers are open Monday - Friday, with reduced hours on Saturdays. Our Corporate Offices in Dallas, TX are open from 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday
